Today's Bridge: We got a load of garbage for hands. Once again, we only even came close because the opponents misbid - Ken opened 2C in the first hand, Dan H. responded 2H, Ken jumped to 4C, Dan was very confused until we explained Gerber, he bid 4D, Ken bid 5C, and Dan passed despite not one of the club bids being natural. They were off two, but I'm pretty sure 6NT was a laydown. Paul takeout doubled and then raised my 2S to 3S with four points and a singleton. I had about eleven, and some possibly sloppy defense left me only off one. In the next hand, we had a much more sensible 4H with my S x-x H Q-9-8-6-x D K-Q-J C A-K-J to Paul's S J-x-x H K-J-7-x D A-x C 9-x-x-x. The opponents started by cashing two spades and leading a third, which I ruffed with the queen - finessing for the ten and losing would have the contract already off. Ken declined to cover with the ace, so I ran a low heart to the king, dropping Dan's ten singleton. That marked Ken with the remaining A-5, so I let the six run to him and he took the ace and led the five. I took in hand and crossed to the ace of diamonds to run the club finesse - when the queen showed up immediately, the contract was mine.

I did a bit more mentoring today. That mostly covers work.
