Oct. 3rd, 2004

The usual Terre Haute day itinerary went as usual, except that I'd forgotten to make my egg salad the night before, so that's going on right now. I also broke tradition by bringing both of the remaining Kino's Journey DVDs, so we naturally watched the rest of the series with little pause. The ending wasn't anything that hadn't been done before in the series, but it did leave a few questions, as did most of the episodes. Fanfiction for that series would be cool, but very difficult to come up with. I'm brainstorming, just because I expect a Kino fanfic would be out of left field and fill a nifty dearth. And it'll catch everybody by surprise, because there aren't many people who read this stuff to know that I'm doing it. We also watched the Little Snow Fairy Sugar special... as expected, it's two more episodes of Little Snow Fairy Sugar. I played a bit of Skies of Arcadia, and he showed off his Dance Dance Revolution moves. Apparently, the social aspects of that scourge of humanity have infiltrated Rose as well. I didn't indulge, and still don't plan to... I embarrass myself enough just breathing in and out. I don't need the limb-flailing trip hazard of an arrow-mongering death game to help me along. Besides, what happens if *shudders* I turn out to ENJOY it? My life would officially be over. Don't stop to wonder why that is... remember my devout Cynicism and let me remind you as well that most Star Wars fans are now complaining over the excessive re-releases of the DVDs... and that's not HALF of the number of versions DDR has put out that have different songs and change arrow placements and stuff. I know there's more to it than that, but even Final Fantasy has a new storyline for each game. Well... let's shove Tactics aside, shall we? Whoops... didn't realize the case was that fragile.

Today's purchases: I started at Waldenbooks and bought Dark Tower 7 and Going Postal as well as Fruits Basket 5, A.I. Love You 5, Et Cetera 2, Nadesico 4, Slayers SEDS 6 (where are 4 and 5? Huh?), Chrono Crusade 2, Rave Master 11, and Pretear 3. No Rurouni Kenshin 7, which was a shame, but they had it at Suncoast, where I planned to use my triple points coupon to get Chrono Crusade anime 1 with the box... but no joy. And no box. But I did end up getting the manga as well as the third Animated Mr. Bean set on my second visit. I'll look at Sam Goody when I go to pick up the new Tenchi GXP on Tuesday, and if they don't have it there, Anime Nation gets my business again. I have no shame in it. And I tell Suncoast so. I don't like being jerked around and not getting what I want. They also didn't have any good DVD storage units. I'll have to try Target soon... I'm out of DVD space and I ran out of manga space a long time ago.

Still waiting on downloads that I started this morning... and sometime last night. Yay BitTorrent.

Still looking into Sugoicon, but I don't doubt that I'm going to go and that Curt's going to come with me again this year. Hopefully, the fanfic panel works out this time. I enjoy fielding questions, particularly the crazy ones. Anyone who can reach Cincinnatti, please look into it and consider coming to say hello... I was a bit disappointed that I didn't get to meet many new people (formally) at AWA.

Still waiting for two ADC prereads, but if I get one, I'll probably post the chapter and make revisions based on the other when I get it. It's been too long. Not as though I'll make much progress in chapter 11... that whole thing is a colossal mess that I'm better off not even trying to salvage. I might combine what I can save from chapters 11 and 12 into one, depending. A lot happened... just in the stupidest, most boring way possible (for someone with my inherent level of skill, even back then).

I need to go mash eggs now.

Oooh, do you like Chrno Crusade? =^_^=

Before ya correct my spelling of it, it's "Chrno" and not "Chrono." Apparently there's a different anime called "Chrono Crusade" or something.

I'm well aware of that. I don't remember where I read this, but I remember seeing that the Chrono Crusade manga and anime had to shorten their title to Chrno Crusade due to a trademark conflict that doesn't exist in the U.S.. So the U.S. release is under the original title, Chrono Crusade. I think the anime even changed the katakana to "kuruno" rather than "kurono". The official webpage says "kurono". I'll try to find a source for that and post it here later.

I still haven't seen Nadesico 3, let alone 4. And since I was too sick to hit the mall this weekend, I have no idea if Rurouni Kenshin 7 is available here. I'll have to keep my eyes out for both next weekend.

Re: Manga
Didn't know you were collecting Nadesico. I think we first saw 3 only a few weeks ago, so we were very surprised to see 4 out so soon. Kenshin should be showing up there sooner or later, but I don't remember whether it's due at mid-month or whether it was due out in September. Either way, it's going to be published monthly from now on, so look forward to lots more Kenshin.

Re: Manga
Thanks for the update. It's much easier to find manga when you know the release dates. As it is, I usually just carry my spreadsheet list and hope something I'm collecting has a new release. Reminds me, I ought to update the list before heading to the mall next. Already had one screwup...got a second copy of TWHE 5. But that worked out great since I was able to trade it for Tsubasa 1 which crosses over with another series I'm collecting.

Re: Manga
I need to do some accounting on my list, too. I've gotten a lot better at remembering which books I have and which ones I need, which is surprising as I have so many more series now, but I'm still forgetful about updating the webpage list sometimes and I'm not entirely sure that the totals are right either. And these days, now that I go to Terre Haute so much more often, I'm a bit more willing to skip buying a book if I think I might already have it. I'm sure there are online retailers who would carry any books I might need, and there's always Amazon.

Re: Manga
If I didn't carry a list, I would always get duplicates. My brain seems to be mush lately. Probably the meds I'm on. Although, I wasn't on anything new last time I messed up on my manga. Senior moments? I hate to think I'm old enough for those already.

Page Summary

Yes, I'm THAT Nidoking. Sometimes I write fanfiction... often I waste all my time playing video games and watching anime. But it's not a waste if I enjoy it, right? I can quote from a movie, video game, anime series, or British comedy apropos of just about any situation, and one of my main goals in life is to entertain people. (The other big one is amassing as much anime and manga as I can... see below for a progress report.) That's me in a nutshell. ("Help! I'm trapped in a nutshell! What a bloody great nutshell this is!")
