Management = actual work?

Today's Bridge: I surprisingly got to play for my one chance in a very long time, and even more surprisingly, the cards were pretty balanced. The opponents made a few contracts, and then we made a few, including one where I almost got stuck playing 1D with S A-K-Q-2 H A-K-x-x D Q-10-9-7-x. Fortunately, Paul balanced with 2C, which let me jump to 3D. Dan C. still passed that one with S 10-x-x H J-x D A-8-x-x C x-x-x-x, which is understandable when I think we had 60 below the line. I ruffed the opening club lead, cashed the two hearts, and when Paul dropped the queen, I decided to run my seven of diamonds to his jack, take the spade return, cash the ace of diamonds to find a good split, and run spades. When those also split, I sluffed the last club loser on the two of spades and claimed six. As an encore, I got a second club void with S A-K-Q-10-x-x H Q-x-x D Q-x-x-x, so when Dan opened 2D, I had to force him up with 2S, and when he went to 3C, I thought about it for a good while and jumped up to 5D. With six diamonds and four clubs, he can't have very many hearts, and I've got spades well covered - if he can establish them and maintain an entry to my hand, he's in great shape. As it turned out, despite a 3-0 trump split (missing the top two trump), he managed to pull all the trump and cross to my spades, but instead of cashing them all, he ruffed back to his hand with a losing club remaining. For the final hand, the opponents declared 2NT while I had S K-10-9-x H A-Q-x D A-x-x C Q-x-x. When Dan led a spade through the board's S A-5-2 H K-x-x-x D K-x-x-x C J-x, it was a pretty simple line of play. I took the king and led a low spade back to Dan H.'s jack, Dan C.'s queen, and the board's ace. When the lead back was a low heart, I counted to six and took the queen, both spades, and both red aces. We weren't done yet, as Dan C. kept the last diamond for when he got back in the lead with the ace of clubs at the end. We made their contract.

Otherwise, work wasn't as hectic as I was expecting, possibly because I was back in the office because I thought I needed to deal with a system scan and a floor waxing. Actually, it was just the floor waxing. I get back to doing actual work tomorrow.
