What used to be normal is now an amazing gift

Today's Bridge: We actually had enough people to play for once. There were only two hands made the entire day - Dan made a 3NT with an overtrick, although I don't know whether the opponents could have set us had they managed to attack my weak spades, and Paul just made a 2NT, which I could have set by trapping him on the board - I held my ace of spades to prevent him from getting to his last spade on the board, but had I taken it sooner and forced him onto the board, he'd have been forced to lead hearts eventually and set me up an extra trick there. We got set a few times as well, but never doubled, and I managed to land in 4D with S A-Q-x-x-x H J-x D J-10-x-x-x C A to Dan's S x-x H x-x-x D A-9-8-x-x C x-x-x. It's two heart losers, one diamond loser, and the spade finesse failed. Still a great contract when the opponents are going for 3H for game and we've got only two tricks - Paul's diamond void covers that ace, and the ruffing finesse sets them up an extra diamond trick. Even Paul's 1C was off two, and when Dan penalty doubled their 2H in the final hand, I went ahead and bid 2S with five of them, anticipating that he had at least three (he did), and they raised to 3H, which he doubled again. Off two.

Today's Work: Another brief session of working with the radar, with a few small changes and some experimenting with values that the manual says we're not supposed to screw with (it turns out that they work as I initially expected they would), before it started giving us cable problems again. It really hates its cables. Anyway, everything is working from my perspective, so I get a two-day weekend without having to sacrifice a holiday to make it fit. I might get to play some of my new games this weekend! And definitely more Warrior Within.
