Today's Bridge: Paul and I managed to win the first rubber, but the opponents came back with a slam and a game in the second rubber, and Paul only made our final 2D because Kevin led his queen of hearts, setting up Paul's jack, instead of forcing him to ruff a black card on the board. My only decent hand was S K-Q-x-x H A-J-x D K-Q-x C Q-10-x. I opened 1NT, Paul responded 2C, I bid 2S, he strangely left it at 3S, and I raised to 4S. His hand was S A-J-x-x H x-x D x C A-J-x-x-x-x. I took the opening diamond lead with th queen and considered the marked ruffing finesse, but opted to start pulling trump instead, leaving the top spades on the board as entries to the clubs if I needed them. Good thing - Mike showed out on the second round, so I led the queen of clubs, pulling Mike's king. With that gone, I could safely pull the remaining trump, cross to my ten of clubs, then back to the jack to win everything but the final diamond trick.

A meeting that I was looking forward to (for variety, at least) didn't happen, so it was pretty boring until the afternoon meeting. It looks like I'm going to be working on base for a while, mainly doing reviews until we have a better handle on some actual work. That means longer commutes, which means later evenings, but it also means more Bridge. I can't decide whether I'm happy about that or not.

Yes, I'm THAT Nidoking. Sometimes I write fanfiction... often I waste all my time playing video games and watching anime. But it's not a waste if I enjoy it, right? I can quote from a movie, video game, anime series, or British comedy apropos of just about any situation, and one of my main goals in life is to entertain people. (The other big one is amassing as much anime and manga as I can... see below for a progress report.) That's me in a nutshell. ("Help! I'm trapped in a nutshell! What a bloody great nutshell this is!")
