Today's Bridge: Dan C. and I took on Dan H. and Jerry, and it was a close rubber. They started with 1NT with an overtrick and another was available, but Dan played the clubs rather backward and then gave up the rest. Then I opened 1S with S K-10-x-x-x H A-K-x-x D K-Q C x-x or so. Dan responded 1NT, and I felt strong enough to bid 2H, but when he raised to 3H, my hand didn't get any better and I had to pass. With his S A-x H J-10-x-x-x D x-x C A-x-x-x, it's tough to say he should have jumped to game, but it seems reasonable. Game is easy. We finished the game with a pretty impressive club holding - 11 clubs between us, missing only the ace and three, but we had three losers outside the trump suit, so I only just made it. I rather petulantly put in a 2D bid on the next hand when it clearly belonged to Jerry, and Dan raised me to 3D - off two undoubled wasn't great, but also wasn't too bad. They had a pair of hands that would have made slam unless I had K-J-x of spades, which was indeed my holding, but since they only bid game, they made it with an overtrick. Then they went for 1NT twice and missed it both times - our defense was on point, and we probably had the balance of power and just couldn't get into the auction either time.

Today's Work: The task lead pointed out something that should hopefully help me get to the end of my efforts sooner. I'm still doing the same thing, but now I'm hoping to have jumped to the endpoint.

I didn't get home any earlier than usual, but I managed to make my grocery trip and still eat dinner afterward. I haven't got much time to spare, but I hope I can relax a bit before turning in.

Yes, I'm THAT Nidoking. Sometimes I write fanfiction... often I waste all my time playing video games and watching anime. But it's not a waste if I enjoy it, right? I can quote from a movie, video game, anime series, or British comedy apropos of just about any situation, and one of my main goals in life is to entertain people. (The other big one is amassing as much anime and manga as I can... see below for a progress report.) That's me in a nutshell. ("Help! I'm trapped in a nutshell! What a bloody great nutshell this is!")
