Today's Bridge: Raymond showed up just in time to be our fourth, and he struck first with a 1D with two overtricks. Ken and I followed with 2S (I made an overtrick, but gave up one by playing on clubs instead of trying for a 3-3 diamond split), then a 3H with four overtricks - I'm not sure slam was there, depending on the defense, but Ken negotiated the 4-1 trump split well and set up my long spades. Then I wound up in 3NT with S A-10-9-x H Q-J-x-x D A-x C A-K-x or so. I opened 1NT, Dan C. overcalled 2S, and Ken bid 2NT, which I raised to game with my maximum. Ken had S Q-x-x H K-x-x-x D K-J-10-x C x-x or so, so all I needed to do was force out the ace of hearts and king of spades and weather the 4-4 club split. I started the next rubber with a tricky 2S, then Ken opened 1S when I had S A-K-x-x-x H x-x D x C x-x-x-x-x, with really ratty spots. I considered jumping right to 4S, but I made to with 2. That gave the opponents the opportunity to bid diamonds, and we ended up in 4S anyway. Ken made it, so it was the right contract, but I really should have jumped straight to it.

Today's Work: The good news is that the task lead appreciated my assessment of the impossible task and told me to stop working on it, since it won't be finished in time for our release. So I took on some more useful work and we'll work on how to write up the part we're not doing in the release notes.

It snowed most of the day, but very lightly. It's been a very mild winter, snow-wise. I'm grateful. Hopefully, this was the last snow of the year.

Yes, I'm THAT Nidoking. Sometimes I write fanfiction... often I waste all my time playing video games and watching anime. But it's not a waste if I enjoy it, right? I can quote from a movie, video game, anime series, or British comedy apropos of just about any situation, and one of my main goals in life is to entertain people. (The other big one is amassing as much anime and manga as I can... see below for a progress report.) That's me in a nutshell. ("Help! I'm trapped in a nutshell! What a bloody great nutshell this is!")
