Today's Bridge: Better than yesterday, which isn't saying much, but after giving up the first rubber in a 4NT and a 6NT, Ken and I had a slam try of our own, stopping short in 5S and just making it, then a 2D followed by a 2NT that I botched horribly and got lucky. I had just S A-Q-8 H A-K-Q-x D x-x-x C J-x-x, so I opened 1NT, Ken bid 2C (Stayman), then went back to 2NT over my 2H. He had S J-10-x-x H x-x-x D A-K-x C 10-x-x, which is barely enough for that sequence, but it didn't look good. Fortunately, the clubs were 4-3, but I screwed up by throwing a heart from dummy instead of the low diamond. Dan C. threw a heart as well. The low spade return ran to my eight, which was a bad sign, and Dan C. showed out on the second heart, so I couldn't set up a long heart. Now I realized my mistake - the obvious play was to cash the ace of spades and lead the queen, setting up the jack, but without the third heart in dummy, I had no reentry to my hand to take the queen of hearts. Fortunately, Dan H. led the jack of hearts, handing me the contract. But that'll teach me to throw an "idle" card in a suit I'm hoping to set up when I have a perfectly good loser to get rid of instead.

Today's Work: Lots of reviews. A lot of it is open-source code that we just imported into our project, but I'm reviewing it anyway. There was a rather interesting endless loop: something like char * func() { return func() ? (char *) NULL : pointer; } I don't think that will work properly. At least I discovered a new programming concept: head-recursion.

I tried making fish with lemon pepper tonight. I think I used way too much, but it still turned out okay.

Yes, I'm THAT Nidoking. Sometimes I write fanfiction... often I waste all my time playing video games and watching anime. But it's not a waste if I enjoy it, right? I can quote from a movie, video game, anime series, or British comedy apropos of just about any situation, and one of my main goals in life is to entertain people. (The other big one is amassing as much anime and manga as I can... see below for a progress report.) That's me in a nutshell. ("Help! I'm trapped in a nutshell! What a bloody great nutshell this is!")
