I can't eat popato chisps

Today's Bridge: Kevin and I teamed up against the Dans, and we spent most of the first rubber raising each other to game. He made his, despite my hand being about as bad as it could have been for my jump, and I threw away the first one and couldn't have made the second one no matter how hard I'd tried. That one was a good sacrifice, though. Then we had an auction where I bid all four suits, and it was beautiful. I had S A-J-10-9 H A-Q-x-x-x D K C K-J-x, so I opened 1H and Kevin responded 2C, which was promising. Dan C. cut in with 3D, preventing me from jumping, so I just bid 3S, planning to show my strength later. Kevin went with 4C, so I bid 4D, the opponents' suit, to show both shortness and strength. Kevin chose 4H, but I wasn't done, and bid 5C to let him know about the fit there and let him choose not only the suit, but game or slam. He left it at game in clubs, and we lost the ace of diamonds and the king of hearts to make it exactly. The final hand was 3NT by Dan H., and it was a pretty fascinating hand. Dummy had S A-J-10-x-x-x-x H J-x D Q C K-10-x, and I believe declarer's hand was S K H A-x-x-x D J-10-x-x-x C A-x-x. The winning line, I believe, is to win the club lead in hand and overtake the king of spades, then lead the jack to clear the suit if it splits 3-2, leaving the king of clubs as an entry. This line ends with six spades, two clubs, and a heart, as well as a diamond trick if we try to score tricks there when in with the queen of spades.

Today's Work: Mainly reading a handbook that describes a lot of what our software does, although I gave someone a hand with some work on the installation. It's fascinating stuff, all of it.

Yes, I'm THAT Nidoking. Sometimes I write fanfiction... often I waste all my time playing video games and watching anime. But it's not a waste if I enjoy it, right? I can quote from a movie, video game, anime series, or British comedy apropos of just about any situation, and one of my main goals in life is to entertain people. (The other big one is amassing as much anime and manga as I can... see below for a progress report.) That's me in a nutshell. ("Help! I'm trapped in a nutshell! What a bloody great nutshell this is!")
