Today's Bridge: The disturbing trend of getting to play even when we have more than enough people continues, and we did pretty well for the most part. I think I messed up when Jerry as my partner opened 2S, Ken doubled, I passed, Dan H. bid 3C, Ken raised to 4C, and with S Q H x-x-x D K-Q-x-x-x-x-x C x-x, I felt that we had no defense and our distribution would probably work in our favor, so I bid 4D. Jerry took that out into 4S, and I think he could have saved off two with a loser-on-loser play, but he was off three doubled. Other than that, we were pretty great on defense most of the time, and we only failed to win the rubber because I underbid. I opened 1C with S K-Q H K-10-x D x C K-J-10-x-x-x-x, Jerry bid 1H, Ken doubled, I bid 2C, and he raised to 3C. Thinking he was pretty weak and we weren't likely to make game with unfavorable vulnerability, I passed. What he had was S x-x H A-J-9-8-x D J-x-x C A-Q-x. Dan started with the K-Q of diamonds, so I ruffed, pulled trump in two rounds, crossed to the ace of hearts, and led toward my K-10, hoping to catch Ken with the queen. He coughed it up on the second round, so I overtook my ten of hearts with the jack, sluffed both spades on the remaining hearts, and claimed with a handful of clubs. It's cold for 5 as long as I find the queen of hearts and it's not four-long in Ken's hand. The last hand was probably the most interesting - Jerry opened 1S, Ken and I passed, and Dan balanced with 2D. Jerry tried 2H, Ken overcalled 3D, and that was passed out after much deliberation from Jerry. I couldn't really do anything at any time with S J-9-x H x-x-x D A-8-7-6-5 C 9-8 - I can't really say anything to Jerry's bids, and I can't very well double with that diamond suit. As it was, almost all of Jerry's power was in aces, and we scored two of those and three of my diamonds to barely set the contract.

Today's Work: It was more a matter of trying to figure out whether I need to do any documentation work than actually doing the work. This is my job.

It was another uncomfortable morning that led to me barely getting to work on time, so I want to try to turn in earlier, but it just never happens. If I keep trying, I'm never going to get my next LP off the ground, or do anything, really. So I guess I've just got to take life as it comes and plan to catch up a bit over the weekend.

Yes, I'm THAT Nidoking. Sometimes I write fanfiction... often I waste all my time playing video games and watching anime. But it's not a waste if I enjoy it, right? I can quote from a movie, video game, anime series, or British comedy apropos of just about any situation, and one of my main goals in life is to entertain people. (The other big one is amassing as much anime and manga as I can... see below for a progress report.) That's me in a nutshell. ("Help! I'm trapped in a nutshell! What a bloody great nutshell this is!")
