Good travel weather is so hard to come by.

Today's Bridge: We actually had enough people to play, and Dan H. and I were definitely on top of things. The only score the opponents made was on a 30+ point monster where they bid 3NT and I think it was almost guaranteed for 6 despite bad splits in the majors. The diamonds were solid. More so when I ended up in 3NT - Dan H. opened 1D, and I had S 10-x-x-x H K-J-x D A-2 C J-x-x-x, so I responded 1S. He jumped to 3D, but I still didn't have a fit, and with a decent holding in hearts, I decided to bid 3NT rather than passing it up for 4C. He considered bidding diamonds a third time with S 2 H A-x-x D K-Q-J-x-x-x-x C A-Q, but decided to let me have it. The opponents could set us in spades if they'd decided to lead my suit, but Dan C. went with a heart instead, giving me all three of those to go with the seven guaranteed diamonds and the ace of clubs. The sad part is that we already had a really hard-fought 2S with S A-Q-9-7-x H Q-9-x-x C K-x-x-x opposite S K-J-x-x H x-x D 10-9-8-x C J-x-x. I have no idea where I found eight tricks in that mess, especially since Dan C. had three of the spades and led them at every opportunity. I think I reversed dummy with two diamond ruffs and a heart ruff, giving me seven spades and either a heart or a diamond that established at the end. We set them in a few other contracts, some of which looked unbeatable from my side of the table, while others looked doomed but barely went down. Dan C. opened 1H, Dan H. overcalled 1S, and Jerry put in 2D, saving me from having to find a bid in S 9-7 H K-x D Q-x-x-x-x C K-J-10-2. Dan C. decided to bid 2S, which was informative but not very useful, and Jerry ended up in 3C. I think 3NT might have been playable, but Jerry couldn't really use Dan's clubs to cover his diamond singleton because the other Dand could overruff, and I had the spades pretty well covered as well. Even so, I came down to K-J-10 of trump in the last three tricks, and we only had three. I figured Jerry had both of the remaining club honors and I was endplayed, but Dan turned up with the ace, so we set them two.

Today's Work: More of what I've been doing, but on-site instead of at home. It's nice to be there with the team. It's a good thing, because even though the roads were clear, the wind was fierce today. I had a hard time staying on the road at high speeds, so I had to take it slow on the way home. I think it'll be the same way all weekend, which won't be pleasant, but still better than snow.

I passed up the usual Taco Bell for Subway, because my glucose has been running a bit higher than I'd like, even compared to my regular levels. It's good stuff, and there's nothing wrong with a footlong tuna for six bucks.

Yes, I'm THAT Nidoking. Sometimes I write fanfiction... often I waste all my time playing video games and watching anime. But it's not a waste if I enjoy it, right? I can quote from a movie, video game, anime series, or British comedy apropos of just about any situation, and one of my main goals in life is to entertain people. (The other big one is amassing as much anime and manga as I can... see below for a progress report.) That's me in a nutshell. ("Help! I'm trapped in a nutshell! What a bloody great nutshell this is!")
